Occupational Therapy for Lymphedema

As a Certified Upper Extremity Lymphedema Therapist and Full-Body Lymphedema Therapist, I use advanced techniques to treat lymphedema comprehensively.

Occupational Therapy for Lymphedema
What to Expect

You will receive a tailored approach that includes:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD): A gentle, therapeutic massage technique aimed at stimulating the lymphatic system and promoting fluid drainage.

  • Compression Therapy: Custom-made garments designed to manage swelling and enhance circulation.

  • Therapeutic Pain Management Systems (TPMS): A holistic method to alleviate chronic pain and improve circulation, especially beneficial for patients with ongoing discomfort from lymphedema.

What is Lymphedema?

Lymphedema is a condition where excess fluid builds up in the body, causing swelling, often in the arms or legs. It commonly occurs after breast cancer surgery or radiation, which can damage the lymphatic system. As a result, lymph fluid cannot drain properly, leading to swelling, discomfort, and even restricted mobility.

How Breast Cancer Affects Lymphedema

For breast cancer patients, lymphedema often develops after the removal of lymph nodes or radiation treatment. This can lead to long-term physical and emotional challenges. Our specialized occupational therapy approach is focused on reducing swelling, improving range of motion, and restoring function to the affected limb.

Micropoint Current Stimulation (MPCS)

A non-invasive therapy used to reduce pain, improve circulation and promote healing.

Micropoint Current Stimulation (MPCS)
What to Expect

During a session, I will use specialized equipment to deliver targeted micropoint currents to areas of discomfort. This non-invasive treatment is typically painless and can be combined with other therapies for enhanced results. It’s an excellent option for individuals dealing with chronic pain, especially those managing lymphedema or recovering from breast cancer treatments.

What is Micropoint Current Stimulation?

Micropoint Current Stimulation (MPCS) is an advanced therapy technique designed to treat chronic pain, improve circulation, reduce swelling and manage and/or reduce scars. It uses electrical impulses to stimulate the body's natural healing processes, helping to reduce pain, improve mobility, and promote tissue repair.

How It Works

The gentle electrical currents are applied to specific areas of the body, promoting cellular regeneration and improving circulation. MPCS has been shown to be effective in managing pain related to lymphedema, as well as other conditions such as post-surgical recovery, joint pain, and muscle tension.

Neurofeedback Brain Training

A powerful training technique that helps optimize brain function.

Neurofeedback Brain Training
What to Expect

As a certified Neuroptimal Neurofeedback trainer, I tailor each session to your unique needs. Neurofeedback sessions are typically relaxing and non-invasive. Many clients report feeling more relaxed, focused, and balanced after just a few sessions. This brain training can be an effective tool for managing symptoms of ADD/ADHD, stress, depression, and more, helping you regain mental clarity and improve your overall well-being.

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback, is a powerful training technique that helps optimize brain function. By providing real-time feedback on brainwave activity, neurofeedback trains the brain to achieve more balanced and efficient functioning. This technique can be particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, sleep disturbances, chronic pain, and neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic brain injury.

How Neurofeedback Works

During a neurofeedback session, sensors are placed on your scalp to monitor brainwave activity. You’ll be given audio or visual feedback based on your brain’s current state, helping you learn how to self-regulate brainwave patterns. Over time, this training can improve mood, focus, and cognitive performance.
